Marquis Jenkins

Director of Organizing

Marquis Jenkins is the Director of Organizing at Common Justice leading and managing a growing organizing team and membership. Prior to joining Common Justice, he worked for Freedom Agenda as the Deputy Director of Campaigns, strategizing and supporting the organizing efforts of people and communities directly impacted by incarceration to achieve decarceration and system transformation.

Marquis Jenkins also worked as WE ACT for Environmental Justice’s Director of Organizing, where he led a department responsible for organizing and membership. Before joining the WE ACT staff, Marquis worked as the senior community organizer at the Legal Defense Fund (LDF), traveling around the country to support communities of color organizing to address criminal justice issues. Prior to that, he was an organizer with Good Old Lower East Side, Inc. (GOLES), where his focus was on organizing, educating, and empowering public housing residents. Marquis was introduced to organizing at the age of seventeen when he ran for resident association president of the public housing development where he grew up. In his spare time, Marquis loves to hang out with friends at karaoke lounges and go Salsa dancing.
