Christian Philemon

VP of Programs

Christian joined Common Justice as the VP of Programs. Prior to joining Common Justice, he was the Executive Director of the Youth Shelter Program of Westchester, a residential Alternative to Incarceration program for youth. He has worked extensively on legislative and advocacy agendas focusing on reducing youth incarceration.  He has over 20 years in Connecticut State government working with specialized populations. He has worked as a Clinical Trauma Social Worker at Yale University Hospital, and the Clifford Beers Child Guidance Clinic. He is a trained mediator, and guardian ad litem, and worked as a clinical consultant with the Center for Children’s Advocacy, a legal advocacy law firm.

He has served on the boards of directors for the Legal Aid Society, Non-Profit Westchester and has held an Adjunct Professor position at SUNY Westchester, teaching Juvenile Delinquency and Criminology.

Christian holds a BA from Wesleyan University, ha earned his MSSW from Columbia University and a JD from Quinnipiac University. He is a Licensed Clinical practitioner and admitted to the bar in Connecticut and New York.
